UCM61xx Series IP/PBX Part 1 - Configuring Extensions


Login to your UCM61xx IP/PBX.
Username: admin
Password: admin
IP Address: Assigned by DHCP - check your UCM61xx display

Create New User (Adding a Single User):
Navigate to PBX >> Basic/Call Routes >> Extensions
Select Create New User and change or amend the following to suit your company.


Extension: 6001 (users extension number, by default must be between 5000-6299).
CallerID Name: Dale (Name to display when calling from this extension - can be overridden globally).
CallerID Number: 6001 (Number displayed when calling from this extension).
Permission: Internal (Permission level must be set to equal or higher than permission defined in outgoing Trunk for this extension to make outbound calls - Internal is the lowest setting and therefore if Trunk permission is set to any level other than Internal this user cannot make external calls).
SIP/IAX Password: 6001Dale (Password for this users account).
Enable Voicemail: Yes (Enables user to have their own Voicemail at this extension).
Voicemail Password: 99891 (Password to check users Voicemail).
Email Address: dale@gowifi.co.nz (Voicemail will be emailed to this address - Optional).
Call Forward Unconditional: Disabled (All incoming calls to this extension will be unconditionally forwarded to this number if enabled).
Call Forward No Answer: Disabled (All unanswered incoming calls to this extension will be forwarded to this number if enabled).
Call Forward Busy: Disabled (When enabled, all calls to this extension will be forwarded when this extension is busy).
Ring Timeout: None (This is the amount of time in seconds before the caller is sent to this extensions Voicemail).
SIP: Yes (When enabled, this user/phone is a SIP device or will be using SIP).
IAX: No (When enabled, this user/phone is an IAX device or will be using IAX).
Analog Station: None (Select the port number this user/extension will use if their phone is attached to one of the Analog FXS ports on the UCM61xx).
NAT: Yes (Must be enabled for this extension to communicate with the PBX if it is on an external public IP Address. If the user/phone and PBX are on the same internal network NAT should not be required).
Can Reinvite: No (If enabled, the PBX will attempt to route media streams between endpoints directly rather than through itself).
DTMF Mode: RFC2833
Insecure: Port
Enable Keep-alive: Yes (Enabled by default to keep the NAT connection open).
Keep-alive Frequency: 60 (This is the interval in seconds to check the host is up).
AuthID: 6001 (This is the SIP service subscriber's ID used for authentication. If left blank, the CallerID name will be used).
SRTP: No
Fax Detection: No (When enabled, any incoming fax to this user/trunk while on a call will be automatically emailed to this user/extensions email address).
Strategy: Allow All (This user/extension registration can be restricted to a specific IP Address or Subnet, By default Allow all will allow any IP Address or Subnet to register this extension).
Skip Trunk Auth: No (If enabled, this user/extension does not need to enter the password when making outbound calls).
Codec Preference: PCMU, PCMA, GSM, G.726, G.722, G.729, H264 (This is the order of of preference for your voice and video codecs).
Pickup Group: 1 (If the extension belongs to a pickup group, any incoming calls to this extension can be picked up from the other extensions in the same pickup group by dialing the call pickup feature code (by default it's *8).

Batch Add Extensions (Adding Multiple Users):
Navigate to PBX >> Basic/Call Routes >> Extensions
Select Batch Add Extensions and change or amend the following to suit your company.
Apply Changes.
